Getting Summer Time Smooth With The #Mach3Signature – New Daddy Edition

Mach3Signature

With all the running around I do, it would be very easy to overlook certain elements of personal care. I see it all the time. From nails to skin to hair, there has always been this mentality that part of manhood meant being extra rough around the edges. There is definitely a time and place for that, but for me I have to keep in mind the benefits of keeping things smooth as well. Enter the new Gillette® Mach3® Signature Edition. Your face is reserved for the most important people in your life. That may be a mother’s touch, a partner’s kiss, or in my case, the curious hands of a newborn baby. I can’t have that precious skin touching rough skin, so let’s make sure that isn’t an issue.

I’m no stranger to Gillette® and their high quality shaving products. As I made my way to Costco to pick up the new Gillette® Mach3® Signature Edition and Fusion ProGlide 2-in-1 Shave Gel, I already felt confident at the shave I’d get from it. This pick-up essentially will take you through the summer, as the pack comes with 14 replaceable blade cartridges along with a razor itself. At an amazing price of $36.99, there will be no running back to the store for refills anytime soon.

#MySignatureMove (1X1)

I can’t lie. I older I get the more I pay added attention to the products I use for my body. I’ve mentioned soaps before and I was just put on to something new from one of my favorites. A quick ride to my nearest Walmart introduced me the newest addition to my shower routine. Let’s say #MySignatureMove for the post workout shower will be Irish Spring’s new Signature Body Wash & Bar Soaps.

#MySignatureMove

I always found it funny that Irish Spring really held true to the commercials I’ve seen all throughout my life. It’s honestly the scent that has kept me buying over the years. Refreshing is definitely the word I’d use to describe a shower with these new soaps. I had to put them to the test after my upper body routine at the gym. Yes it was the post weight training stink vs the tried and true cleansing power of Irish Spring and its authentic ingredients.

#MySignatureMove

After years of using Irish Spring I’ve got to say this was a great feeling. Both the body wash and soap left me feeling clean without any oily after feeling. Plus there was no dried out feeling afterwards. These Signature  products are batting 1.000 with me and I’m going to have to get enough of this for home as well as on the road. For the right price I’m a guy that will ride a bus 20+ hrs to get somewhere so please believe I need quality body wash on deck.

The bar soaps also come in two types Hydrating and Exfoliating Scrub. I love variety and you’ll enjoy your Spring and Summer showers that much more with Irish Spring’s new Signature soaps.

#MySignatureMove

For an added bonus “Purchase one of the new Irish Spring Signature products and get $5 off a VUDU purchase! Take a picture of your receipt and then go to http://cbi.as/3boj to upload your receipt. Next step, enjoy watching!”

New Yorkers are quite familiar with the efficiency, quality and “on every corner” presence of Duane Reade. I’m never more then a street or 2 away from anything I find myself in need of. That brand faith now gets a major shot in the arm as Duane Reade has just introduced the new #DRMobileApp version 2.o with iBeacon. I was really excited to check this out once I received word of it from #CollectveBias. For the store that is everywhere and has everything you can now expedite your time with Duane Reade’s new app. With an array of features on deck you’re relationship with Duane Reade now is no longer limited to being in the store or on the home website.

The App layout is simple and clean with very user friendly interface. You log in with the same account info from the home Walgreens/Duane Reade website. Your info transfers over to the mobile app. From there you can do a number of things to make your trips to Duane Reade more time effective. You can directly edit and order images to be printed or turn those pictures into cards, calendars and more via Quick Prints. Similarly you can browse the store to create shopping lists on the fly. Along with that the app allows you to order some items for fast timely delivery or you can just go pick up your order.

The health aspects this app can deliver you may be the great element yet. Prescription management, refills and even walk-in medical appointments can all be accessed through the app. The Rx options include the ability to save your specific info by directly scanning the barcode, using the prescription # or even the QR code. Again this is ideal for that person on the go that may have the habit of forgetting when their own their final pill. The app’s reminder and refill functions should eliminate those struggles.

In regards to wellness the Walk with Walgreens program that has now been renamed Steps has been imported as well so you can keep track of your progress from your mobile device too. That also links into your Rewards Points which you can check here as well. You’ll see your present points total and how far you are from the next goal level. There is also an option for store activity. What makes this so useful is that you can pull up previous purchases and add them to your shopping list for future visits.

#DRMobileApp

Finally, with the new #DRMobileApp comes the inclusion of new iBeacon location-based notifications. Starting in a few central Manhattan stores this new technology via the apps reads your proximity and once in the store sends a prompt to start-up the app and see what discounts are taking place in that respective store. This on site feature also reads what coupons you’ve digitally clipped from the weekly flyer and reminds you of what you have so you don’t miss even more savings. I almost forgot to save 55 cents on the Glade air fresheners I needed but was reminded when the iBeacon notifications for the app kicked in. On a side note, people have asked me my thoughts on security with this app. People don’t like the sound of something retail based reacting to your movements. What I tell people is to view this as reverse Foursquare. Instead you checking into the store to unlock deals, once you’re app enters the iBeacon field the store checks in with you.

In watching Duane Reade continue to embrace full interactivity with their customers makes this new mobile step no real surprise. This app succeeds in creating a fully robust customer relationship from web site to mobile to in store. Don’t be surprised when more businesses start implementing this type of tech as the digital movement marches towards more mobile activity. Make sure you visit iTunes to download the free #DRMobileApp and try all of this out for yourself. Expect an Android version in the near future.

Everything Really Is Bigger In Texas!!! SXSW Samurai Recap

Everything Really Is Bigger In Texas!!! SXSW Samurai Recap

SXSW

24 hours of being back in NY and yes I’m glad to be home from my week long SXSW experience. Over the next few days you’ll be getting various types of SXSW related content on my various social media networks. The Interactive festival is that large and that full of business and innovation that I’ve spent most of today diving into it all. As I’ve sat here separating and prioritizing all this information I have to say that I have new appreciation for the South By South West experience. While it was not my first time there, it was the most business related agenda I’ve ever had while attending. Seeing it from that professional side of the spectrum allows for a whole different level of understanding. You don’t just enjoy it but you notice what differentiates one brand from another. You pick up on what works and what doesn’t.

SXSW has so much of a social/party element infused into it that it takes more concentration then you may think to get a true return on your investment. Yet while the drinks seemed limitless and the food options grow with every street you turn onto there truly was a ton of great business going on throughout downtown Austin. From the Start Up Crawl to the exhibition show to the various sessions and tutorials the information that you could take in was high. While I personally am I social media guy in terms of communications across these various sites, I also met a number of people who were in town to introduce new apps and potential new apps. The tech start up scene in Austin is serious but being around that much creative energy cant help but fuel your own drive to succeed. There are a few people I’ll be keeping my eye on to see if they can make their dreams materialize.

SXSW

As SXSW has grown many lament the presence of so many larger mainstream corporations. I can see and understand that thinking yet unless you live and breathe SXSW or are that deep entrenched in the business I don’t see corporate presence as a bad thing. It’s growth and expansion. The truth is that regardless of if its SXSW, on YouTube or any other platform, indies and majors are all pushing for our attention. This is just the reality of our world. Yet I feel that talent and drive always gets it’s due in the end. That’s  not even speaking of the personalities that came to address the people like Nas, Sean Combs and Nick Cannon. That type of engagement is priceless.

Preview of the SXSW x SOFLOB Event

SXSW was an amazing time and a great way to celebrate a birthday while expanding my professional brand. I’m already making notes for next year. We’ll be doing things that much bigger in 2015. Thanks again to Collective Bias for the believing in me to spend me out to Austin, thanks to AIO Wireless keeping my connected via their ZTE tablet, Thanks to Ms Donnet Bruce for having me speak at her event and  thanks to all of Nomadness for the support over the entire week.
