The Majority of Consumers Don’t Buy Celebrity Hype

The Majority of Consumers Don’t Buy Celebrity Hype

lil-wayne-galaxy-s7-commercial

From as long as I can remember watching TV, brands have looked to hook your attention and spark your interest in their products via the cosign of high-profile personalities and main stream celebrities. The celebrity endorsement is a class marketing method that essentially tries to tell you that if it’s good enough for this person then you should want it too and for years this has worked. Apparently, the present age of social media, viral stars and more direct customer engagement is rendering this approach to business a little obsolete with the millennials. Check out the info below via Collective Bias detailing some recent market data.

Collective Bias, a leader in shopper-focused influencer marketing, published results of a large-scale national survey investigating how U.S. consumers’ online behaviors impact in-store purchase decisions. The survey, fielded to nearly 14,000 adults in early March, found that 30 percent of consumers are more likely to purchase a product endorsed by a non-celebrity blogger than a celebrity. Of that number, 70 percent of 18 to 34 year-olds had the highest preference for “peer” endorsement.

Infographics-LinkedIn-Led

Only three percent of consumers would consider buying a product in-store if it was endorsed by a celebrity, but celebrity testimonials were just one of the traditional advertising vehicles to rank low among respondents. Those surveyed cited TV (7.4 percent), print (4.7 percent) and digital (4.5 percent) advertisements as the least influential forms of communication when shopping for products in-store. The results point to a growing ineffectiveness of traditional advertising and the need for brands to embrace alternative forms of marketing to drive sales.

Society has a growing number of media options that enable them to avoid ads all together and even if they do watch them, their influence comes more from whats trending and buzz worthy online vs the new commercial drops on TV. It should be a lesson learned that at least with the young adults of the world you need connection on a relateable level over star power to seal the deal.

Should Your Digital Strategy Center Around Your Blog?

Should Your Digital Strategy Center Around Your Blog?

Business Concept on online marketing in professional style
Business Concept on online marketing in professional style

What to do online, How to do it and where to do it are 3 of the main questions I repeatedly get from people. As every month seems to usher in a new social media platform the playing field gets more and more cluttered. This makes it that much more complicated to set up a digital strategy for your brand. For years, it has been preached that you need a place of your own on the internet. You need a center site that ties everything together. Now while that is still true, it doesn’t mean that your blog site has to be the focal point of your strategy. It may be the destination point to desire for conversation but your content may be better suited and better received elsewhere.

You have to go where the people are and right not social sharing via Facebook, Twitter and Instagram can get you in front of more eyes a lot faster than traditionally promoting a blog site.

Social Media Week recently posted an article that dives into this topic from a few angles. Check the excerpt below then visit the SMW site for the full article. Digital is changing and you need to be able to properly assess your business to know where you best move is to be made.

Changing Customer Expectations Regarding Content Consumption

Of course, it wasn’t just the bells and whistles of these [Social Media] advances that began changing the content landscape. The way people began offering and consuming content took a turn. Twitterstorming, for example, became a way of content writing to be used as a way to release a fairly large amount of information broken up into small pieces.

Not only is that more digestible, there is an automated optimization in the process that has to be forced in longer content forms such as blog posts. This rapid succession posts also makes writing mistakes easier to overlook, making this a good option for those who are more business savvy than writing savvy.

SAMURAI RIDES: EXPERIENCE POWER & STYLE WITH THE 2016 SORENTO

SAMURAI RIDES: EXPERIENCE POWER & STYLE WITH THE 2016 KIA SORENTO

SamuraiRidesRiaSorento1

#SamuraiRides #DriveKia

My time delivering Samurai Rides review has opened me out to many auto types that I previously didn’t drive much. Everything for me had been BIG. Expeditions, Tahoes, Conversation vans and RV’s made up my driving resume but I have to say that the new age of SUV’s and Crossovers had really won me over. The 2016 Kia Sorento ideally provides size and space while not overwhelming you was a massive vehicle. I presented the 2015 Kia Sorento to you in late 2014 so you can look back at the upgrades in design.

Kia really excels at providing excellence and style while giving you the functionality that you need for your day-to-day activities. The cold metallic gray exterior gives the Sorento tough appearance. Conversely the interior is rich and beautifully laced with a white leather finish and black leather trim. That Oreo theme looks great and pops the moment you open the doors.

As my previous Kia experiences have taught me, expect comfort and the Sorento delivers. You get rear window privacy shades, plentiful power sources to keep you plugged into your network. Front seating provides 12-way seating controls, with heating options. One of my favorites is the panoramic sunroof. Open this up and you truly get as close to that feeling of driving a convertible as you can get.

From the drivers perspective Kia provides 360 degree camera coverage that makes parking that much easier for you. Lane detection and blind spot alerts are all on deck to keep people off you and provide a safer ride. With the safety levels set enjoy your ride with Harman’s Infinity surround sound system for your MP3, radio or Satellite tunes.

Keeping the technology in mind for a moment, the Sorento is Google connected via the Send-to-Car feature so you can plan out that road trip at home then shot the details to the your ride and be ready to roll out. Combine that with interior Pandora controls and yelp features and you’re pretty much set to explore the roads.

After 2 runs with the Sorento in nearly 2 years I can confidently say that it’s a great option for anyone seeking a new SUV. Luxury and affordable in one great looking vehicle.

How Well Do You Manage Yourself?

How Well Do You Manage Yourself?

o-MEDITATION-facebook

The world continues to find ways to stimulate every single human impulse and desire. We can speak to the global masses without leaving our home. Entertainment, education and professional resources live in our pockets. It’s the wireless digital age but as Jadakiss said in his most recent album “Don’t confuse wireless for powerless….” We have power or, at least, the potential for power like we never have had before. Which is why how we manage ourselves has become more important than ever. Here are 2 reminders of self-maintenance actions we should commit daily.

Self Care

Statistically, we’re working more hours and sleeping less. Before we even notice it we’re wearing ourselves down physically and mentally at an ever-increasing rate. You often need to make the concerted effort to step outside of our routines for our own good. Schedule periods of rest and stillness. Allow time for limited, if not fully restricted digital access. We have always been creatures of habit but your body and mind will thank you for taking a few breaks. Find simple things that you enjoy and don’t allow life’s’ obligations to keep you from them. Spa treatments, fitness. meditation, yoga, afternoon walks, music, art. Whatever it is that energizes you, do it.

Self Check

This one is the often times the harder of the 2 self-management tasks. Many of us are still adapting to having the free range ability to express any and everything we feel with very few if any barriers. We often communicate to the world the way that we think things up in our minds. In our mind’s we are never wrong. We are masters of that domain and we transfer that to our external spaces. That may be physical or digital.  We are social beings so much of what you do will involve people.  We need to watch our communication and balance how much we speak about others or tell others what they should be doing in life vs examining ourselves and what we personally need to improve on. It’s easy to overlook as just observing the people around you but it can present itself as being judgmental and even self-righteous. Today’s memes and popular catch phrases all feed into the “I’m better than you”, compare to/put down others to feel good style of living. Just take that extra moment before you hit send or before you speak and just ask yourself “Who exactly am I sending this message to? Is it contributing anything positive?”

Nothing that is good for us just happens out the blue. We have to work on it and work for it. It’s easy to get into damaging cycles but with a little extra thought and attention paid to what we do positive habits can be put into effect. We’ll all thank ourselves in the long run.

SAMURAI RIDES: ROLLING OUT WITH THE 2016 KIA OPTIMA XL TURBO

SAMURAI RIDES: ROLLING OUT WITH THE 2016 KIA OPTIMA XL TURBO

DriveKiaCenter

#SamuraiRide #DriveKia

As Samurai Rides continues to share quality autos with you, one of the biggest things I’ve been introduced to is the series of excellent cars that Kia has released. I had a hard time giving back the flagship vehicle K900 last year and this month I was introduced to the 2016 Kia Optima XL Turbo. Kia has another winner on its hands.

Kia does an amazing job with space and leg room. From the moment I take the first step into a car I see that gorgeous Black on Black leather stitched interior. In addition, that leg room is immediately clear as well. The Optima is incredibly roomy without me having to drop the seat back and cut rear passenger comfort. Factor in the heated seats and steering wheel to a the calm silent interior and it’s an ideal setting to hit the road.

DriveKiaTech

But who wants silence? Open up that panoramic sunroof and turn up the music.  Powered by Harman/Kardon® QuantumLogic™ Premium Surround Sound with Clari-Fi™ your AUX cord will have those ride ready tunes sounding so clear and powerful.

I got caught in some funny weather while riding with the Optima because when New York winter meets global warming anything is possible. Thankfully my time on the road wasn’t affected by the rain or the snow. The Optima slide through it all with sharp on point precision. The Advanced Smart Cruise Control aided with this as well. At this point, you have to really be oblivious to your surroundings to hit something.

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

As I mentioned earlier my only hands-on comparison car to the Optima is the K900. It’s an unfair match as the K900 is the luxury piece of the Kia line but with that said there isn’t some insane drop off in driving quality. On road handling, technology with mobile app compatibility, safety and entertainment all line up for a great experience. 178 horses under the Optima hood gives you a healthy amount of power on the streets to get where you need to be. Combine that with 25 – 30 miles per gallon in gas and you’ve got fuel efficiency that your wallet will appreciate. I could say more but honestly, I just suggest you give the Optima a solid test drive if you’re looking for a new mid-size sedan.
