Samurai Meme Time: You’re An Iceberg???
Welcome to a new blog theme from the Social Media Samurai. Meme Time. As social networking sites have become a growing form of communication we’ve seen the increase of meme’s as a quick hitting form of message delivery. These messages are often a little tongue in cheek, a little snarky and made to grab attention. Relationship subjects are a favorite category that spawns tons of memes. Here’s the thing, often Memes are a bit misleading. They perfectly reflect the new age of interaction because their value is often skin deep. By this I mean that the initial statement made is usually sounds great until you take the time to dive deeper into them. This at it’s best should create more broad conversation on the topic at hand. So, let’s get into Meme Time
A meme (/ˈmiːm/; meem) is “an idea, behavior, or style that spreads from person to person within a culture.
An “Internet meme” is a concept that spreads rapidly from person to person via the Internet, usually in a humorous way, largely through internet-based E-mail, blogs, forums, Imageboards, social networking sites, instant messaging and video sites such as YouTube.
The Meme above I encountered on Instagram. “Often men only see the tip of the Iceberg” This is posted by model who has a mutual friend of mine. The point of this was the tried and true view-point that men all focus on T & A and miss the deeper qualities of a lady. While there may be truth to that in some cases I different thought comes to mind when I see this. Unlike an iceberg people have a choice in what they show the public. I don’t doubt that a person has a big heart but why is your rear end the presentation given to the public? That’s not an unchangeable condition like an iceberg formation that’s a personal decision. Understand this isn’t about blaming clothing or style of dress. But as adults we decide what we want to show the world.
Strangers aren’t going to dive in to see what else you are about beyond the physical without something being shown to spark that interest. So regardless of what shape your blessed with what words are coming out of your mouth, what are you doing what energies are you putting out into the world? Iceberg’s are ice, still and isolated. What you see is what you get. If a person conducts themselves in a similar manner then of course only the tip will be seen.
